Gazebo kits come in two basic formats - pre-cut and the pre-assembled. The key difference between these two formats are the level of assembly required. Pre-cut gazebo kits require a little more effort in construction as the material is all shipped pre-cut, but not pre-assembled. This means wall sections, roof sections, floors, etc.. all need to be built onsite. The advantage precut kits offer over preassembled kits are with respect to the shipping costs – the skids are smaller therefore costing less; as well as with the build process – if you’re doing it on your own, the preassembled kits have heavy preassembled sections that simply can’t be managed with just one person.
Preassembled gazebo kits on the other hand have the biggest advantage of being able to be constructed from skid to completion in as little as one day (depending on the size, options and site location). Preassembled kits include everything you need to build them. This includes all lumber, hardware, as well as preassembled floors, windows and doors, and of course optional screen kits. Preassembled gazebo kits also have the advantage of each component being precision cut to ensure a perfect fit. Preassembled gazebos are even shipped with the roof panels shingled.
Both formats will include access to online videos, instructions and of course technical phone support should you require a little help along the way.

Aside from stain or paint and the foundation, the only thing that’s not included
with your kit is labor. You can expect to spend anywhere from a day, to several
days constructing your gazebo. The time required largely depends on your DIY
skill level.
Getting Started by Choosing a Gazebo Design
There are hundreds of gazebo designs out there, so where do you start? The first
thing is what you’re going to be using your gazebo for. This will dictate the
critical issues such as whether you need something completely enclosed, or if it
can be open. Your environment will also play a role – northern locations likely
have mosquitoes and other seasonal “friends” that you may not want at the party
– so screen kits and other options may be required.
With the mandatory issues taken stock, it really all comes down to personal
taste and preference. Some like the ornate style of the Victorian designs, while
others don’t. The best thing we can say is browse through all the different
styles and whatever you like, you like. Since gazebo kits can be customized,
it’s not often that a particular style can’t be modified to work around your
needs.
Gazebo Kit Delivery & Shipping
Whether it’s a precut or preassembled kit the same basic issues apply – be
flexible. Unless you’re local to the manufacturer the kit needs to be shipped
with a common freight carrier. This means there are issues such as customs,
border crossings, road conditions, accidents, and other potential issues that
may cause a slight delay in your delivery.
Also consider where the shipping location will be – can a semi-truck get down your street? If not your kit will need to be offloaded either close by, or at a prearranged location. So be sure to give this some consideration and be sure to speak to a sales representative in advance about any possible shipping challenges.
Better to be well informed then to have a surprise on delivery day!
